Description

Evaluating the Options: State Insurance Exchanges

January 10 Webinar Provides New Insight on Structuring Health Insurance Exchanges
A new report funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) explores three ways that states can comply with the Affordable Care Act's requirement to establish a health insurance exchange in their state: establishing one on their own, defaulting to a federal exchange, or creating a hybrid exchange. Federally-Facilitated Exchanges and the Continuum of State Options is one of the first examinations of the different exchange models since the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued draft regulations in the summer of 2011.

The authors of this report, Deborah Bachrach and Patricia Boozang, will participate in a January 10 webinar hosted by RWJF that will further examine states’ health insurance exchange options. They will be joined by Sara Rosenbaum and Patricia Riley, the authors of a forthcoming paper on harmonizing exchanges and state Medicaid programs. Both reports were conducted on behalf of the National Academy of Social Insurance.
